XBOX 360 Update in Progress

Hi all,

Looking for some advice - I dusted off my X360 console to play some games from back in the day, but game updates are causing me a problem.

When you boot games up, the console says the the game has an update (4mb usually) and that if you do not install the update, you’ll be disconnected from Live.

I go ahead and install, but it immediately gets stuck with the ring continuously turning. I can play offline but then the achievements don’t seem to be syncing. For example, I’ve got 3 achievements so far, all visible under the actual game but in list view, I only have 2 lol. TA doesn’t recognise the third either.

Anyway, I’ve cleared my cache, restarted the console and reset my router. Still not managed to get the game update to install.

Does anyone have any experience of this and know of a solution?

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

I used the cache clearance with the LB RB X sequence and it restarted the console and triggers and system update - not sure if that’s normal.

That update wouldn’t download so I reset my router again and fortunately it did. From there, I tried the game update and it worked.

So somewhere in amongst all that, the problem was solved and I’m fairly sure it was your cache clearance method. It also synced the missing achievements with Xbox, making me very happy it’s all resolved!

I understand that you are experiencing issues with installing the update on your Xbox 360.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please check storage space. Make sure you have enough storage space on your console. If needed, delete some content to free up space.

And then clear system cache. Go to the Settings hub on the dashboard, select System, and then Storage. Press the following button combination: RB LB X RB LB X. This will clear the system cache.

It is important that you will have an external storage too to make sure that there will be space for the data of the games update.

After you have plugged in the external hard drive kindly sign out and sign back in. Please proceed with the game installation.

Kindly check if it works this time after performing the steps.

I have transferred my 360 account to xbox one but sometimes i still play on the 360 but my xbox one does not update with the further progress details in the game, is there a way of syncing the two accounts so they both update to the same level no matter
which console I use.
