Xbox 360 Slim not detecting Ethernet cable

Hello Pierce, try connecting your 360 console over Wi-Fi, and after it's connected do a console system update and then try switching to cable again to see if it connects.

Roll back and reinstall system updates.

To do this:

In the console, go to Settings and select System.

Select Storage.

Highlight the memory drive

Enter the following sequence of buttons: LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X

This opens the Delete System Update window.

Select Yes.

This restarts the console.

Once you've done this process if it doesn't recognize the network cable it might actually be something on the console hardware, even on the console network card, and ideally it would be to seek some technical assistance from your trust.

Ok, try a different Ethernet cable and a different port on the router, even try the slim on that Ethernet cable (as a test)

If a different Ethernet cable and/or router port does not help or putting the Slim in the place of the older 360 does work on that Ethernet cable then the Xbox Ethernet port is damaged I'm afraid and will have to be repaired by Microsoft.

if you are using a slim and it detects an ethernet cable connected it makes it the default connection and looks to that for connection to LIVE..you might want to search the support pages to see if you can use the wireless with an ethernet cable plugged it

If you have a Xbox 360 Slim (which as built-in wifi) and you are asked to attach an external networking adapter or an ethernet cable, then the internal wifi has malfunctioned and your Xbox 360 Slim will need to be repaired.
