    Xbox 360 slim main drive keeps wipping data


    Xbox 360 slim main drive keeps wipping data and i have to format it again to be used

    Once format done, it asks me to update,

    That was done about 4 times with main drive losing data and reformat and update,

    Now cannot update at all

    Error comes

    I have external hdd but it does not allow to be used as main drive, so i can update there and get on with it

    What to do

    I dont care about lost data

    But without update i cannot use xbox live

    Please help

    Is that correct?
    Hi,

    If you have an empty bay you have a 4GB Slim.

    This storage unit is soldered into the motherboard and can not be easily replaced.

    Hi,

    Self repair isn't something we can give advice on here. The Xbox 360 isn't a PC and talking about replacing chips isn't allowed. Such knowledge could be used to modify a system to run pirated software for example.

    Probably best to seek advice from a console repair shop, it's not something an average person could fix. I build PCs but I have next to no experience with de-soldering re-soldering.
