There's a lot of changes with the Slim model, here's a couple of the major ones:

    They FINALLY added Wifi

It feature one large fan instead of two small fans

Optical audio is now an option straight from the 360

And the most important, the CPU/GPU is a single-chip (which uses less power and gives off less heat)

like the ones on a PC or laptop the CPU would fry itself basically killing it, do not remove the fan/fans plus doing so would void any warranty and MS would not fix it even if you paid them.

Thanks for that. You see it's talked about as a fix for RROD and other issues, a way of resetting the chip. So you leave the heatsink on and remove the fan, it overheats but it shuts down before damage is done.

I'm fine to do that if it's not going to fry the chip. It's good to get clarity that if you remove the fan, even with the heatsink still on, it will fry the chip as apposed to automatically shutting down and resetting itself. Is this correct?

    Cheers

but to add you should not try to fix your system as I said before it will void any repairs by MS. once you crack open the system MS will NOT touch it, and even talking about repairs is not allowed here sorry.
