    I recently got hold of an Xbox 360 slim, the model that comes with the kinect and the 4GB flash memory. Obviously, that's not nearly enough space, so I ran out and bought an official 320GB HDD from Fred Meyer, complete in Xbox/MS packaging. Today, for nostalgia,
    I popped in Fable: the Lost Chapters. The message I received, and receive with EVERY game I've tried since, says something along the lines of "cannot read the disc. Please try downloading the game again." Which makes ZERO sense, since I'm using a disc, ergo,
    no downloading. I've formatted the HDD through the Xbox 360, but still get the same error message every time.

    Can't Play Downloaded Xbox Originals Game

    Xbox consoles with only 4GB storage cannot play Xbox originals games. The 4GB is just USB memory (not an actual hard drive) To play Xbox originals you need an official Xbox hard drive with a capacity of 250GB or 320GB.

    To play Original Xbox games, you need an official Microsoft hard drive.

    There is no official 120GB hard drive for the Slim. For the Slim, the hard drives are 250GB and 320GB (and one with 4GB internal flash memory); there is a 120GB hard drive for the first iteration Xbox 360 and later Elite console.

    So if you're sure yours is the Slim variant, the hard drive itself will be the problem.

    hi the xbox 360 slim 4gb as a space in the bottom for a hdd, to play the game you will need to get one. As long as the game is on the backwards list it should play once you have a harddrive which will be a 250gb or a 320gb for the slim model.

    Return the HDD to the seller. Buy an official 250GB or 320GB HDD.

    Hi there! I'm afraid your 120GB Hard drive for the 4GB Slim console is not an official Microsoft Hard drive, and therefore cannot run the emulation software required for the xbox original games. The only official hard drives for this model are in 250GB and
    320GB sizes. And even then, these can also be fake, particularly if you purchase them form sites like ebay. I was conned into a fake drive myself once before. It was 250GB but was not official. I purchased an official 320GB drive for my 4GB slim and now I
