Xbox 360 Slim 4GB update failure

Hi all,

Recently I got an old version but unpacked and so still new XBOX 360 Slim with 4GB.

Right after the unpacking and starting with the first instalation process I got to the problem I was not able to solve till today.

I have found this closed topic - http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_support/xbox_360_support/f/7/t/1879759.aspxwhen basically all the ideas I have already tried (

• Rebooting router/modem, I have changed wi-fi to cable and back again several times with the same result of the following status code 417F-42FC-1380-267F-C000-0185
  
• I have also cleared the cache for hard drive and main memory, formatted main 4GB memory - same results
  

• I have even bought a new 250 hard drive with no success

• I have tried to use burnt CD and USB with proper FAT32 and full format FAT 32 with the update file (properly unpacked) from :
  
  http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/system-updates-info#2916c56135794929b7ed40f4a040f4a8 and then I got different code 417F-42FC-1600-267F-C000-0185
  

• I have tried every possible way described here in the forum or dirrectly described from the XBOX manual with the same results.
  

What can I do now? The Xbox is fully new but with no option to return it. I am not able to connect to Xbox Live, nor sign in my already created account from previous playing period, nor play any of the games as the update is needed. I have Xbox, the
games but no way I can play them.

You mentioned that you have formatted the internal flash memory (4GB), but could you verify that your internal memory doesn't show up as "Unformatted"

fistly the internal memory was unformatted, also when i tried to go back to the default settings it was again unformatted, and now (after formating, because otherwice it says I have no memory to download cca 190mb of update) it is in status formated (2,9
GB free).

My firm belief is that it's your console's internal memory that is the cause, as to why you're unable to process the update properly. I've seen this behaviour with the 4GB version in the past. Same error code (C000-0185) and the internal flash memory shows
up as "Unformatted" (when it shouldn't).

If you haven't already, there's one last thing you could try before you go ahead and
request a repair for your console, and that would be to roll back the current system version of your console. Once this is done, make use of your USB drive and try update your console.

Here's how:

Go to System Settings and choose storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Try and update from the USB drive.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

no. The same story with D000-0185 error code. I was checking also the actual version of the Dashboard and it says 2.0.17502.0 which seems to be the final available now so I do not understand how it is possible and how this could work if I am putting the
same version via USB.

Anyway I was checking that the repair would cost around 100dollars which seems bit unfair if you consider that this was a gift and from the beginning it is not working

Hi to all who have same issue and are looking for solution.

There is only one possible way how to repair your console - at least my problem was with internal 4GB memory - and it is go and upgrade your hardrive. I bought 250 GB and the update was succesfull and price was cheaper then using request for repair...
