XBox 360 S, stuck in system update error C000-0032 page. How can I get out?

I bought a second hand XBox 360 S without a hard disk. I tried to update the system but get the error code: C000-0032 "Can't read the update from your storage device". Then the whole system stuck there. I can not go back or quit. I restart the machine and it goes directly to the error page without any other options. Anyone knows how to get out of this deadend status? Thanks.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this situation is causing you. Do you have a hard drive in the console? Did the previous owner have the console setup to download updates directly to it? try removing the hard drive and try to have the update installed directly to the console as the issue can be due to the storage device itself.

There is no hard drive in the console. The previous owner took it away. I used the console previously offline and it works fine. Today I just wanted to try a new way and clicked "yes" to the system update question. Then the system stuck in automatic updating then error dead circle. I lost control over the console. I want to go back to offline. : (
