Xbox 360 refusing to power on

Hoping my xbox hasn't died, but I'm reasonably sure it has.

Yesterday, I was playing a game for a couple of hours and the 360 powered off and wouldn't immediately turn back on. The power button was illuminating and the xbox splash screen would appear before shutting down again.

Followed the troubleshooting suggested and left it alone for a bit, when I want back to it I was able to power it on and play for a couple more hours.

This evening, I tried to turn it back on to play some more and the power button was initially totally non-responsive. After unplugging the PSU and plugging it back in the power button illuminated green and then would switch off within a couple of seconds.

The PSU is showing a solid orange light, which suggests (according to the troubleshooting) that the PSU is fine, which leads me to the unfortunate conclusion that the 360 is goosed, but I'm hoping that some clever clogs will be able to resurrect it for me with arcane knowledge.

Or if nothing else, tell me how to rescue the disc that's in it.

Please help.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble powering your Xbox 360. Not only that, but based on the information you provided, it could be a hardware issue.

However, before considering that, I think it worth trying to use a different power brick, in case it's the one with your issue and not your Xbox 360.

Are you going through a power strip or a surge protector? If you are, I would plug it directly into the wall because supposedly the power supply can overload if you go through one.

Keep in mind, there have been defects reported with the Xbox 360 Slim power supplies. So if you've tried everything and there's still that red light that refuses to work with you, then the power supply may be dead and you may need another replacement.

I'm sorry but Microsoft does not authorize any self-repair procedure and if no procedure can be done through the system, only Microsoft technicians have the autonomy to repair
