Have you checked to make sure the console has not been banned from Live yet? You can go to https://enforcement.xbox.com/Home/ConsoleCheck to see if is banned from
Live or not.

If it's not banned from Live, then you can follow the steps here to get it connected - https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/connect-network/xbox-360-network-connection

Ok, so I managed to download the file to a USB, went through the instructions and the file wouldnt load. It started to then kept coming back with an error..

After getting frustrated I turned the xbox off with the USB still plugged in, and for some reason it then started to download. After it had finished the xbox cane back online with all saves and games.

I have done a factoey reset in the past and this is by far a lot easier as all I had to reload were my kids profiles. Fingers crossed qont have to do it again.
