Xbox 360 - purchased second hand at garage sale; need help getting parental reset

Good evening all -

I purchased an Xbox 360 from a garage sale second hand. The console has a parental control pin assigned to it. The original owner forgot it.

I tried registering this console to my microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/devices/, but it says the serial number is invalid. I searched online and there are multiple reports of the original 360 as no longer supported for getting reset codes at the above mentioned site.

Are there any other options available to me?

I asked others that own an original Xbox 360 to do the same thing - they reported the same problem.

Seems like Microsoft has dropped support on their Xbox 360 console entirely on the Microsoft devices page.

I'm aware of what that support page says. I've tried registering the console with Microsoft in the my Devices, but as I posted above, the site claims it doesn't recognize the serial number.

You state that your knowledge is only based on that linked article and you can't try registering the serial number yourself.

I think the information on that page is stale.

Have you contacted others internally for this topic?

Then lets try a different approach -

If you're not allowed to try this with console serial numbers, then can you confirm if the original XBox 360 units are still supported on the device registration page?

If it IS, then the page and back end database is broken.

If its NOT, then I guess I'm out of options.

I’m sorry to know that, RVGTester. The best option now is getting it replaced and hopefully, the next one no longer have a 360 family passcode.
