    Xbox 360 Live Matchmaking Broken! (Issue Since 2018) - Also Affects Backwards Compatibility


    For those of you who are currently unaware the real reason why you cannot find any lobbies on older Call of Duty games prior to Black Ops 2 is because the matchmaking servers are broken. This issue isn't just exclusive to COD games either and has been going on since 2018. Xbox Support has been completely ignoring this problem for years and we want this fixed. I am 100% not the only person with this problem and it is for sure not my internet connection since I always have an OPEN NAT and I am in a discord server for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 which currently has over 11,000 members who all share the same problem. The symptoms include unusually long matchmaking times, games freezing when trying to matchmake, and error messages claiming you don't have an Xbox Live subscription (usually shown after one of the freeze lockups from matchmaking). Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, another one of the games affected, will show on screen "communication with the Xbox Live servers has been interrupted" while frozen from the broken servers. All of the games with issues which are also on PlayStation 3 and Steam still work perfectly fine on those platforms further proving that this is an Xbox Live issue. Please fix this. #FixBackCompat

    Is anyone else having trouble signing into Xbox live 360 servers on the series S or X

    The Xbox Live servers for the Xbox 360 are currently down. This is also affecting Backward compatible games on the XBox One and Xbox Series X|S. No ETA yet on a fix.

    If I transfer game licenses to a different 360, will it also affect Xbox One games for that gamertag?

    Since Xbox 360 games are not backwards compatible with the Xbox One, even digital copies of 360 games, it is very unlikely that it will affect your One.

    Do you have an original Xbox hard drive in your 360? From my understanding you need an original Xbox hard drive in the 360 to be able to play games from the original Xbox.

    Sorry, I just noticed that you mentioned that you were able to play Halo 2. That would mean that the system is already able to play backwards compatible games. Also, the following link
    https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2018/04/10/backward-compatibility-april-update/ states that Battle Front 2 is indeed backwards compatible. I think that the issue now lies with your disc.

    Hi kinklands,

    I recommend updating your billing information and making sure the credit card info is up to date and any unused cards are removed. Usually removing your main payment option and re adding may solve the issue where it wouldn't let you get it online. Since
    the 360 backwards compatible games are still downloaded from the Xbox 360 marketplace and not the Xbox One store, a working payment option needs to be on the account.

    Currently there is an active service alert affecting purchase and content usage and it mentions backwards compatible being a feature that is affected. I believe the issue is being caused by this service issue. The engineers are actively working on a solution
