Xbox 360, GPU problems after 5 minutes of playing.

Hello.

I have an 360 Xbox, with the xenon motherboard. It´s from October of 2006.

When I turn on the console, everything is ok. When I run a game, from DVD
or from HD, it starts ok, the menu´s are ok. But the real problem occurs when
the game itself starts. The image
starts to become distorted, with several flaws in the color level, with
triangular cutouts, and with flashes of light.

I have no indication of red lights or sounds.

I already opened the console and put a new thermal
grease.

I also noticed that this problem goes away when I move
the DVD drive away and place a small fan on top of the GPU heatsink.

Apparently it solves the problem, but I can't continue
with the console open and with it closed, I can't put another fan on top of
the GPU because the is no space for DVD drive.

I am sorry to know about your issue; However, we have multiple detailed troubleshooting steps for this matter on the official Xbox website to help you take care of it. Before going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned on the link I was referring to, I would like you to go through the following steps to clear your Mac address and then perform a quick power cycle on your console:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

Hi,

I did what you told me to do and the console has no problem connecting to the internet or to the xbox live.

Therefore, the links you provided me are useless for the issue indicated.

There is a problem with the console due to overheating, since when I place an extra fan near the GPU heatsink, the problem goes away. However, I ask you sir... did you see the video I attached?

I just surch on youtube an in internet in general, and I haven't seen anyone complaining about an identical problem without any indication of red light (RRoD).

I have the same problem on the 360 disconnects after 5 or 10 minutes but the xbox one is still working fine and never lose connection.
