Xbox 360 Games Won't play since Gamer tag Change on X 1 S

Thanks for coming to the forums. We want you to try and update the 360 profile. To do this follow these steps:

1. Launch a 360 game on Xbox one.
   
2. Hit the menu and back button together to pull up the 360 emulator.
   
3. go to download profile even if your profile shows.
   
4. enter the credentials for your account.
   

This updates the 360 profile, personally had the same issue as you couldn't launch any BC game. Soon as I did this I was able to play. Try this and let us know.

So since they updated the gamertag policy a few years ago, accounts can now have what's called a "classic gamertag" in addition to their regular tag. It's kind of meant for when people choose special characters in their tag, but it can show up for other reasons to. Changing your tag on the 360 would change the classic tag, but not the regular tag. The regular gamertag can be changed at https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag or on an Xbox One or Series S/X.

So in that case, would logging into xbox one with a 360 gamer tag allow a user to get all the backward compatible games, and then playing them with a xbox one gamer tag?

I have spoken with a few people in chat that are asking that question..

They had created a new gamer tag for xbox one, probably not realising that they could play both consoles with the same tag..

I know that Microsoft probably won't venture down the merge path, but it might be a nice option for some people..

1. If it says its for the One/Series S/X, then it won't work on the 360. That content is still available for purchase in the 360 marketplace though so you could buy it there and it will still work.

2. Yes. Anything you've purchased prior to the marketplace shutting down will still be available on your account to install and play. There is no time limit for this.

3. Same as #1. If the purchase says it will only work for the One/Series S/X then it won't work on a 360.

Gamer score leaderboard also shows as my old gamer tag above my game points, are these places where my new gamer tag should be on Xbox 1? On my Xbox 360 my old gamer tag is nowhere to be found even if I look for it
