xbox 360 game no longer working on xbox 360 after being update for backwards compatability

Hello other xbox users

me and a friend have decided to ditch our pc's and next gen consoles to go back to the glory days of the xbox 360

i still have my slim but my friend purchased a used xbox 360 slim of cex and got a few games with it one of them was halo reach (my copy of reach i had 2) the games were both in good condition but for some reason the copy i gave to my friend was being recongnised
as a dvd and not a game disc so i took the copy i gave him back and put in my slim where the same problem appeared the xbox thinks it is a dvd i have cleaned the disc multiple times and used tooth paste on it but their is no solution in sight i have reason
to believe that since i updated that copy for a xbox one the xbox no longer recognises it

any help would be great thank you

Take a look at the list of original Xbox Games on here https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help...tibility/play-original-xbox-games-on-xbox-360 Only Doom 3 & Doom 3 resurrection of Evil are compatible. The earlier games will not work. This list will no longer be updated as the Backward Compatible program for the Xbox 360 ended years ago.

Tried the system update rollback method twice (once without updating to see if a new update somehow disabled backwards compatibility and once after re-implementing all system updates), no dice. Only thing I can think of is maybe trying a new xbox 360
hard drive (which could be a while). If that doesn't work, all I can assume is that backwards compatibility is no longer a thing for the 360.

Hey Christyan!

As of late there are no longer games being developed for the Xbox 360 or any future releases that have been announced. You can still enjoy all of your supported Xbox 360 content on the Xbox 360 itself or by taking advantage of the Backwards Compatibility
feature on the Xbox One. Here's a list of games on the list

Mercenaries is a Xbox Original game, I'm not sure if it can be played on the Xbox 360, some xbox original games are no longer compatible with Xbox 360 backward compatibility.

That won't be the reason for the disc no longer being recognised on the Xbox 360 console. This is because not only can the Xbox One not write data to discs, the discs themselves are Ready Only anyway.

When you insert BC 360 game into an Xbox One, the disc is checked that it can be read and detects what the game is. Then your Xbox One downloads a digital version of the game repackaged for the Xbox One from Xbox Live. This game is downloaded to your Xbox
One hard drive. The disc is only used to verify you own the game.

I take it your other 360 games work on yours and your friends 360 consoles? You'll need to either get another copy of the game or buy the digital download version instead.
