Xbox 360 flashdrive unformatted overnight!

We do apologize for the inconvenience, unfortunately the data on the thumbdrive isn't transferable like other data since the thumbdrive is formatted to the console so when its (for example) plugged into a computer it will try to format it before transferring
any data. Nothing is going to be lost it is just going to be a hassle to redownload everything. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response and suggestions! Fortunately my xbox live profile wasn't on the thumbdrive/effected so I am able to redownload any content i purchased but my son had profiles and saved progress on games that weren't connected to xbox live account.
I was hoping that there was a way to save or get that data off the drive so I can reformat without losing anything.

f you’re having trouble playing or using content you previously downloaded to your Xbox 360, there are several reasons this could be happening:

• You might not be signed in to Xbox Live, or there might be a problem with your Xbox Live connection.
  
• You’re trying to download content that’s associated with another Microsoft account or Xbox 360 console.

First, make sure you’re signed in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase the content. If you’re still experiencing the problem, it might be because you purchased it with a different Microsoft account.
To confirm you purchased the content with the Microsoft account you’re currently using,
check your Xbox Live subscription and transaction history online.

If the content isn’t appearing in the billing and purchase history of your account, it means you might have purchased it with a different account. Try signing in to your Xbox 360 with a different account to download the content.

• If the content is appearing in your billing history and you still can’t download it, there may be an issue with your profile. Try redownloading your profile by following the instructions at
  
  Download your Xbox Live profile to a different Xbox 360 console or redownload it.

Give this a shot and let us know how it goes.

Right now I think the best option is the Flashdrive then cloud when it becomes Available throughout Xbox live.

Keep in mind with flashdrives you never know what will happen ( i have not had a problem with mine yet) Just make sure its compatible. when you go to configure it, it will erase everything on the flashdrive and format it. It will tell you if it is compatible,
and once its configured. Its configured. You only have to do it once and it will work through out any console. Just configure it on one console and it will be ready for all the Xbox 360 consoles in the world

With some flashdrives that are not Compatible. some like to "Crash" or "Unformat itself" It will tell you when you format your flashdrive if its good. Transferring Profiles is easy as cake. If you want to transfer Gamesaves, I reccremend COPYING them to
the flashdrive, not MOVING them because if the flashdrive crashes you still have your gamesave on your HDD it came from. IF it does crash with your profile on it, it can be recovered. but gamesaves are NON recoverable

I also bought a PNY 8 gig Flashdrive. After the dashboard told me it had been configured and ready to use, I moved my profile and a few gamesaves to it. Then, after an overnight powerdown, or anytime I unplug the flashdrive, it needs to be re-configured.
I lost all my saves.

I should have avoided PNY
