    XBOX 360 External HDD


    Hi! I want to use my 4TB external HDD for my XBOX 360 Slim. It is connected via a USB 2.0 port which the XBOX has.

    However, it is not formatted to Fat32 (XBOX uses it).

    I have some important documents that I can only keep in this HDD.

    Is there a way to set aside only a certain amount of space to be formatted into Fat32, so I can use the other amount of storage for my own docs? Thank you so much

    Okay a little confusing but here's how it works. When any External Device be it a HDD or Flash Drive is used as a Storage Device (Memory for the Xbox 360), the Xbox 360 will only recognize it as such (a Storage Device) via the
    USB. In short, a really huge External HDD becomes a 16Gb (Max) Storage Device from USB.

    Some Games and some Features of Xbox LIVE require an Official MS Xbox 360 HDD that is for that particular Xbox 360 Console (ie Slim with Slim HDD). Simply using an External HDD will not work for these cases. Any External Storage Device is meant to supplement,
    not replace an Official HDD or the performance of one that some Games and Features require.

    It's also important to note, an External Hard Drive is not used the same by the Xbox 360 is an Official HDD. It will simply "see" the External Drive as a means of Storage. It does not replace an Official HDD as some Features from
    either or both Xbox LIVE or a specific Game will not work without an Official Xbox 360 HDD.

    Who now find themselfs have more xbox time withe one then the 360?

    Xbox 360 was originaly sold with a 20 GB HDD or without HDD.

    To take an example FFXI was at launch 11GB.

    I took several years to use an external HDD and only Microsoft/Xbox HDD were compatible on Xbox 360,before that.

    100 GB with Xbox 360 Elite.

    250 GB with Xbox 360 slim.

    Ummmm - Juxtapose13 may be incorrect - plenty of U-Tube info about putting an original 20GB xbox 360 HDD into 360 slim....but into the HDD slot, not connected as an external drive...
