Per the Service agreement if an account isn't signed in to at least once in two-year period, it will be deactivated and then after 30-60 days all data is deleted. After the 60 days there is no way to recover the data unless you backed it up.

Except that the 360 games on Xbox One are just that; 360 games. They are backward compatible games from the 360. Rex, have your son check his purchase history:

If it shows up in his purchase history, he can choose to download it from the history. If it does not, make sure that he used his account and not a different account to redeem the code.

This usually happens, if you (accidentally) use a different Microsoft Account email on the Xbox One than the Microsoft Account that you used when you bought the game on the Xbox 360.

If you still have your Xbox 360, check your account there, that it really is the same email that you use on the Xbox One. Then check on the Xbox 360 that you actually bought the game with that account in your download history.

If necessary, add your other account with which you bought Age of Booty to the Xbox One, and download the game through that account.
