Xbox 360 - Do some games simply have a bad frame rate?

At first I thought there was a problem with my system or even the discs. I tried clearing the cache, formatting the drive, reinstalling updates, trying different systems, and trying different copies of the same game. Nothing worked.

Do some games on the Xbox 360 simply have a bad frame rate?

They are on single player.

The games FEAR and The Orange Box have a bad frame rate. Some backwards compatible games like Max Payne 1, 2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War have a bad frame rate too.

Some games with a good frame rate are Rage and the Call of Duty series. Some backwards compatible games run well too like State of Emergency and the GTA series.

Are these single player games you are trying to play or online multiplayer. If it it online multiplayer I'd say it's your network. What are the games you tend to see this on?

I would assume some games have worse framerates. This is natural with lots of games. You could try using a HDMI cable if you dont already use one on the xbox 360. Its been out since 2005, so seeing newer games vs some of the older ones some may not be
as well put together than others, or framerate dips may be noticeable just because the hardware was more limited.

As far as backwards compatibility goes, I noticed Manhunt runs really well.

I guess I'll ask this: is it normal that some games on the Xbox 360 simply have a low frame rate? Like I mentioned, FEAR doesn't run that well, but some other games do (like Rage or Call of Duty series).
