    Xbox 360 compatibility with a laptop hard drive.


    Ok, so i have an xbox 360 and rhis is the first time that ive had to replace the hard drive, and i look and theres a laptop hard drive already in there. (I was wondering why there was so little space on there) and now id like to use the hard drive from
    my laptop that stopped working but it wont even see the laptop hard as a storage device, ive been all over and cant find even one helpful hint. Can someone please help me?

    The hard drive is not meant to be swapped like that and as it is a violation of the terms of service, it cannot be discussed on the forums.

    To play backward compatible games on the Xbox 360 like NFS Underground 2, you will need an official Xbox 360 hard drive installed in the Xbox 360 E. If you do not have this hard drive, then there is no way to play the backward compatible games.

    What most people don't know is that the hard drive for the 360 is just a standard 2.5" laptop hard drive in a special case. There are millions of 250 and 320GB hard drives out there. Who's to know your nice cheap 360 hard drive from Hong Kong is even new?
    It potentially could have sat in a laptop for a few years. It may have been faulty before it got turned into an Xbox 360 hard drive.

    Either way, you've been had. If you want no more hard drive issues buy an official hard drive.

    This is an original Xbox game, does your console have an official Xbox 360 hard drive?

    Backwards compatibility on the 360 requires an official hard drive, as only official hard drives contain the emulation software.

    To play original Xbox games on your Xbox 360 you will need a Microsoft brand hard drive. No other brand of hard drive will allow you to play backwards compatible games on Xbox 360. The Microsoft brand hard drive has the files needed to emulate the original
    xbox to play those backwards compatible games - you can't get this on any other brand of hard drive.
