I have the same problem where when I plug my cable box into the XBOX 1X, the best the cable box will do is 1080p. When it tests for 4k, it fails. When I plug the 1x in with the same cable to the TV, I get 4k @60Hz. I don't think the pass through supports
4k which makes it useless for me. I was thinking maybe there was a setting somewhere but I haven't found it if there is.

As said many times wait for the Scarlett I bought an Xbox 1X and other than enjoying 4K etc for a little longer than everyone else I’m gonna have to fork out for another console far sooner than I’d like to have.

Best to go with 4k tv 50'' or more size screen to accommodate for more pixels. 4k is now in trend so you could find deals on the web. Most are equip with HDR and i prefer a oled screen just for the brighter picture. Samsung and LG are the better brands
for the money and both use the same manufacturing parts. To get maximum visual effect you'll have to adjust your xbox 1x setting to your tv then adjust your tv's video setting your standards while playing a native 4k game or 4k movie.
