Xbox 1 X keeps console updating!

is the console pre owned as the previous owner could have enrolled it in the insider program and not removed it.

is it just the main console update or is it game updates too.

I'm not sure why it's updating so much if you're not in the Insider program, but if you set your console to instant on mode and to keep your games and apps updated, you'll never notice the updates. The console will be able to update while you're using it.

Also, if you have the console set as your Home, you can play your games without having to be online unless the game is online only.

To update your Xbox One console manually:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.
   
3. Under Updates, you'll see:
   
   • Console update available. Select this to begin your update, or
     
   • No console update available. This means your console is up to date.
     

To set your Xbox One console to receive updates automatically:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.
   
3. Select Keep my console up to date for console and Keep my games & apps up to date for games and apps.

"Xbox power button begins flashing rapidly and Wi-Fi and all attached devices disconnect"

This sounds like the OS update step between Verifying and Applying a System update.

If its a Xbox 1 X or earlier this flashing will last about 12 -15 times and then the console will restart and Apply the update.

If the console is a Series X/S the flashing lasts about 5 times before it Applies the update.
