XB1's New KINECT-LESS console

@Electro how many online only games are out for xbox one now? And how many in the future?

 

No I just don't understand the complaint of spending an extra $100 which is nothing in the scheme of a $500 purchase to me, escpially when you're buying something that's not essential in the first place. If you were forced to spend an extra $100 on something
that was essential to your living then I'd understand your complaint.

But you're right different 'sensibilities.'

Purely single player is becoming a rarer breed, with co-op being added more and more into titles.

Simply because I feel that it's hell of a lot easier to monetise games where you are going to be playing with others.

From simple cosmetic content to make your character 'look cool' to your friends, to DLC where you can't play alongside your friends unless you buy it too.

 

Buying a Kinect X1 right at launch is no different than buying a BBQ and a holiday trailer this May long weekend...... timing. At the moment it was a "must have". Do you dispute every purchase you make 2-3 months down the road if a better price (not value)
comes along? Consumers will save $100 when the Kinectless bundle is released. Down the road, if they want a Kinect, I guessing they will pay $150-160 for the Kinect. Not such a great deal now.....

And as for the $100 spread between consoles, here in Canada a PS4 is $449, an X1 is $499.

 

^That was an interesting perspective, espcially in regards to price. I think the Xbox One was $599 when it came out here and the PS4 $499 so there was the $100 difference. I haven't seen many Aussie complaining about the price.

 

The price excuse is out the window now (although I never understood how a $100 is going to break the bank when buying a game console...) Now that Kinectless X1 is coming out, the fact that some people feel shafted???? I will never understand there thought
process.

 

@DigitalAssassin - Imagine MS had a policy in place that required customers to throw 100 bucks in the trash when they bought an Xbone. That's what you're not getting. Some of us don't wanna throw away 100 bucks for no reason. We don't want Kinect regardless
of how great some people think it is. Make sense?

 

^Mate I didn't want Kinect either and even though it's now broken, I still don't see it as a watse of money. I guess that's while I'll never get it.

Also people go on like that $100 is breaking their budget somehow, which doesn't make sense to me because you're spending $500 on something you don't need to begin with?

 

It's about the principle of people not paying for something they did not need or want on their gaming console.

 

The principle vs the fact: MS openly released the X1, advertising it with Kinect. Yes, it was $499, nothing was hidden at all to the public. People "had to have it"... now here we sit... complainers complaining.

It doesn't bother me, I didn't buy the console, but they did say that if you wanted the console you had to have Kinect too, as they "had no plans" to release a Kinectless version...

 

I agree with Nappy. I could invest in a giraffe too but why? Plus where the hell would I keep him? Well maybe a baby giraffe because...well have you seen a baby giraffe? They look so silky and cuddly. But is it practical for me to have one? Not really.
Plus, I'm not even sure what they eat. Leaves? Then I'd have to plant some trees. Sigh. Shakes head.

Anyway I've always seen the Xbox One as a whole, not two separate entities of which one is being forced upon me because I'm making the choice to buy it. If you want to scrutinize where each dollar you're spending is going on the product then good for you,
but that's just not me.

Why are we even discussing this now anyway when everyone can have it their own way, I don't care if anyone think Kinects worth it or not.

 

I gotta agree DIGITALASSASSIN. That was my whole point to begin with. Options are a good thing and now everyone can be happy. I like having the option to buy an Xbox One at a cheaper price, without the Kinect. Not because of the cost, but because I have
ZERO use for all the options the Kinect offers. ZERO. I want my gaming console to play games. That's it. Games and nothing else. I don't need be able to talk to it or record clips of gameplay that no one cares about. Although if they make a console that makes
sandwiches..........I'm all over it.

 

Why not just get one of these and place it on top of your X1 and pretend they are a single unit?
