Xbox backwards compatability for Xbox One, Xbox360, and Original Xbox vary on a per title basis.

All games available on the Xbox marketplace will also be compatible with all systems, (with the exception of Kinect-only titles on Xbox One, which aren't compatible with other systems).

All titles provided as part of Games With Gold, Game Pass, and Ultimate are also compatible with Xbox One and Xbox S/X, (with Xbox360 and some Original Xbox titles working on Xbox360).

Please note that Original Xbox titles and some Xbox360 titles no-longer support online features or DLC.

I know Portal is not available in South Africa as a games woth gold title. Both the website and console shows the maw as games with gold.

If the XB1 release is anything like the XBOX360 they should be fine. They did a worldwide release of the XBOX360 with very little shortage issue. Most of the box stores in the United States had systems available to the general public the day of the release
and for many weeks after. Hopefully the XB1 release will go as smooth.

Hi there, Netflix is available without Xbox Live Gold but you do need an Xbox Live account.

I have an Xbox Live account (Silver/free). I already tried the steps in the link you shared. However, Netflix just won’t appear in the list of apps available for download on my XBOX360. It seems to be only showing Games apps, and not media apps like Netflix.
