Wrong email on initial startup

Hello:

I purchased a Xbox one (original) from a friend. I reset the Xbox to manufactures settings. On the initial startup (after updates were installed) I accidentally entered the wrong email address. I don't even know the password for the incorrect email.
So now the setup is stuck on the password screen. When I hit the "forgot Password" tab, it says I will get a text but the last digits for the number are not mine.

Please help....trying to get this set up for my little one before Christmas.

Ok so i'll answer my own question incase others read this and are having the same issue.

If you are trying to do an Offline System Update be sure to use a standard USB. Turns out this was my big issue. So make sure of that.

Is there any content purchased using this account or subscriptions such as Xbox Live gold tied to this account?

If there is nothing tied to this account then it might be easier to carry out a reset of the console to factory defaults again. To reset the console to factory defaults please see the guide below.

If you are not able to get the console to load the dashboard please use the guide below and follow the option for offline update on the first screen. You only need to follow step 4 of the process to get the console to the Troubleshoot screen and from here
you can reset the Xbox again.
