People are going to put more time into the games they enjoy. Sure you may get better at a title the more you play, but it's really irrelevant if you're just playing to have fun.

I'd say it's not representing skill or stupidity, just dedication. If you enjoy the game you are playing then I think your playtime should reflect that. I personally had over a thousand hours into Destiny 1, would I consider myself very skilled, no but
did I enjoy it? yes I sure did.

I would argue a correlation between time played and skill, but that is not always the case though. Some can play a game for hours without getting much better at the game. Obviously playing for hours on end would be an example of dedication. In regards to "stupidity",
that comes down to a matter of opinion. Some would say video games are a waste of time; just like others might say building model planes is a waste.
