    Hi all.

    On Wednesday night I was unable to play with friends online, and realised my xbox live account had ran out. So I bought a 12 month subscription card and went to redeem, however it said that I needed to pay update my card details and pay that way.

    I've now figured out I was on auto-renewal and my debit card had past it's expiry date. But I have now bought and revealed a 12 month code already, but will not let me redeem.

    I have tried and tried to access online chat support, but it keep saying 'An Error Occurred'. It's done that for 3 days. When I request a call I get nothing.

    Can anyone out there please advise. I reckon if I update me card details they'll take the £39.99 they say I owe, and I'll be left with a redundant 12 month subscription code - I don't want to pay twice!

    I have never listed a credit card with xbox as I always buy the 12 month gold membership elsewhere as its cheaper! Now I have this error code when I try to redeem my subscription which I purchased cheaper from a Jungle region retailer!! Cant see why you
    should add card details at all???????

    I put in my credit card details to get 1 month free live cause it wouldnt let me do it without putting my details in. Can they charge me if i have no money in my account or will my live just stop ? Cause it wont let me redeem my 3 month code and it says
    that card has an outstanding debt 0_o WTF I turned auto renew off now so am i safe ?

    prepaid code troubleshooting guide     may be able to help out with this.

    Additionally, something like this can sometimes be caused by an expired payment option. Just in case that's what you're experiencing here, try these

    Are you saying the code you bought is for a 12 month subscription and an avatar item? If that's the case, there should be 2 codes on the card. You would need to redeem the second code in order to get the subscription.

    I'm XL Gold, but it says Silver.

    Was the code for a full gold subscription (1 month, 3 month, or 12 months)? Or was it a gold trial? Trial cards will allow you to play online, but won't change your account to gold.

    There is a way to upgrade to gold without credit card. You can go and buy a pre-paid XBL subscription for either 1 month, 3 month or 12 months. Then scratch off the code-covering material and redeem your code and you will be able to play on-line.
