    Wireless Xbox controller randomly disconnects and stutters my game


    It primarily happens in big games like skyrim but I've seen it happen a few times in smaller games. This has happened to me on both my laptop and my pc, both of which are made for gaming. In skyrim it will happen once every minute or two at its worst and
    it's a real blow to try to deal with. I'm using a wireless xbox one controller and it happens in and out of big picture mode. Hell, on that topic it's happened in the menu of big picture mode before.

    When it does happen, whatever is being played (a game/big picture mode) gets super stuttery and acts as though I'm holding the last noticed input (if I'm going down in BPM it keeps going down, if I'm turning in skyrim it keeps turning, etc). Sometimes it
    will just disconnect from the controller then connect again after a few seconds. Other times it will disconnect and remain disconnected (still doing the last input while stuttering) until I manually turn off the controller, where it then stops, and then I
    can turn the controller back on and keep playing.

    I've had this controller for about two and a half years and it's done this for as long as I can remember.

    How do I get it to stop doing this?

    Does you controller disconnect as well?

    I have the same problem, whenever I am using an online connection for a game, my wireless connections just randomly drops, could be as quick as 1 minute or as long as 45 minutes. Also my controller disconnects along with my wireless connection.

    Hi, you can't change the frequency of the controller at all.

    There are several factors that can cause interference though, large metallic objects such as a tv stand etc. Mobile devices such as phones and tablets, even your pc can all have some effect.

    This link shows a few things to try if you're having problems with the controller disconnecting randomly etc.

    Just to confirm, does the controller still disconnect with the cable as well? Does it disconnect randomly, or only at specific times in particular?

    What’s the exact model of the controller, and is this a third party one or a genuine one? If it’s an official Microsoft one, you can find the version number in the battery compartment.
