  1. Wireless controller not so wireless?

I just recently opened up my wireless Xbox controller. However I am a bit confused on setting it up. It has Bluetoot and I just assumed that it would be an easy setup connecting to the Bluetooth. However it seems I need a cable in order to play with it instead
of it being literally a wireless play controller.

Do I actually NEED a USB cord to play with or a wireless receiver? Please help!

    :)

Yeah, didn't think so, because it's their deal, not Microsoft, so they are just pairing together both to sell more of the console in their stores instead of others.

Buying new controller. Wired or Wireless? [Help]

I would suggest you get a wireless controller. It makes your life so much easier. You're not limited to a certain number of feet with a wireless controller. Also, with a wired controller there's always a chance of you tripping over it. I recently switched from wired to wireless and i'm loving every second of it.

Do i need the WindowsCreatorUpdate? I think i do have bluetooth.

I do have a micro-usb cable but id prefer to go literally wireless.

Im not sure i might need an adapter yet

  6. I just checked my update to see if my computer did install the Anniversary Edition or creators update. I'm not sure if I did. Is there anyway to check? Are these two different updates?

  7. If you're not seeing any updates in the Windows Update section, you should be running the Anniversary Edition. If you don't have Bluetooth built into the PC, you'll need the Wireless Adapter in order to connect. Alternatively, you could purchase a Bluetooth
Adapter if you wish. Wireless controller not so wireless? :)

The most recent update was "2017-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4032188)". I assume the Anniversary Ed is in there? In the Action Center it says BT is ON but not connected. my computer is G11- ASUS and has BT equipped
    in it.

So it says on, but it can't find the controller. Ive followed the steps many times. Or is my bluetooth truly not connected?

If you're simply trying to connect the controller to the Xbox, you will need to sync the controller to the console.

    If you're connecting the
    controller to the PC
, you can do it through one of three ways:
