    Wireless Audio Dongles on Xbox One


    I still don't understand why Xbox doesn't support wireless dongles for headsets. They are a popular option for many gamers who play on multiple platforms. Audio dongles used to not work on the PS4, but they patched
    that quickly and now a USB dongle for wireless play works on PS4 but not Xbox. Even the Nintendo Switch, which probably has a third of the power of an Xbox One, is compatible with these dongles. There are many popular headset models using these USB dongles
    but people who own them are forced to use the 3.5-millimeter audio jack because their console does not support this. Even worse, if the headset does not use a 3.5-millimeter audio jack, there is no way of connecting the headset. I still don't understand why
    this has not been patched.

    If not you will need an audio cable connection if it haas one

    I peraonally use the stealth 600 v2

    (Important notr v2 headsets are xbox wireless compatible so no dongle is needed )

    When purchasing a headset always look at the compatibility on the box

    If it doesnt have a dongle for wireless it must have a made for xbox label which v2 has or some other ones like luccid have xbox wireless andan audio jack

    you can connect either by using the official wireless dongle that would allow audio passthrough too, or bluetooth that wont allow audio via the controller.

    or you can go wired and have the same benefits as the official dongle.

    I believe that Xbox controllers only transmit and receive audio through the Xbox wireless signal and not via Bluetooth. If using Bluetooth to connect the controller, you need to use a different method for audio. Wired controllers and controllers connected with the Microsoft wireless dongle can use the headphone jack for audio.

    Does a USB Bluetooth dongle work with an Xbox?

    If it's an "off the shelf" Bluetooth dongle, then no.

    In order to work, an USB device needs specific drivers, so the computer or console knows which kind of data is coming in through the USB Port.

    Since you can't install additional drivers on a Xbox console, you'll have to live with those drivers that come with the console, and that is without a basic Bluetooth stack.

    So no, you can't simply plug in a Bluetooth dongle hoping the headset will work.

    You will need specific Xbox Licensed headsets to work wireless on the Xbox One. Or simply get a standard 3.5mm headset and connect that to your wireless controller.

    Or get a wireless headset that has it's own wireless base station that connects to the physical audio output of the Xbox One (i.e. optical TOSLINK), and gets power through the USB Port. But currently, no audio is put out via USB. Then the headset's base
    station transmits the sound via it's own proprietary wireless protocol, or if the Base Station supports it, Bluetooth.
