Wired xbox controller Input is messed up

A wired controller.

I got fed-up of messing around with batteries and the 9 foot cord they supply with the wired controller is ample for me.

I've read that if you previously used a wired headset and then went wireless, that sometimes the controller becomes "bridged" to the headset. And since a wired headset has priority over wireless, it messes things up. The solution was as as follows. Turn
off the console, controller and headset. Remove the battery from the controller and use a plastic flosspic to probe the headset input on the controller. Then obviously put the battery back in and start up. I haven't tried this simply because I never had
this problem, but a few people say it works. Be careful tho, don't scratch the headset jack. Hope this helps.

Same.

My Xbox is right next to my bed so a wired controller is perfect for me.

Also I got sick of having to recharge the battery.

Sounds like external signal interferance messing up the wireless signal of the controller.

If you have a wired controller, or a play and charge kit cord to use as a wire, try that out and see if there's different results.

Do you have anything plugged into your Xbox? Like a wired controller or keyboard perhaps? If so it's possible that may be interfering with your controller inputs.

You could also try loading up the Xbox Accessories app while on the console to configure the controller.
