Wired xbox 360 controller issue

To play on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller you need to get a wired controller. On Xbox 360 the "wire" is only used for charging on the wireless controller.

Xbox Accessories come with a 90 day warranty (you can visit the
Xbox 360 repair: Frequently asked questions support article for more information). So your controller might be eligible for a repair.

The issue is occurring on Xbox 360 console. I’ve tried other USB ports and it’s the same issue.

In that case, it may be a hardware failure with the controller or the Xbox 360 console ports, and you may need to go to a local shop for repairs or purchase another console.

Sorry to hear your controller is not working properly. Is this a problem with your PC, or Xbox 360 console?

If it's on your PC, make sure your PC is completely up to date by going to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Since you stated this happened recently, check if you have a restore point on your PC and restore your settings to before when the controller was working properly.

All I can suggest is upgrading to the supported Xbox Wireless controller which you can continue to update the firmware using the Xbox Accessories app. You can use it to play wirelessly via Bluetooth, or use the USB-C cable to stay wired in.
