wired XB360 controller issue

hi all,

i recently replaced the cable on a wired controller after it developed an intermittent connection and i got hacked off with it disconnecting every few minutes. I ordered a replacement cable online, specifically for the 360 handset. I initially intended
to use just the main section of the cable from the breakaway plug to the USB, but when tried the controller would not operate, which surprised me. So taking the thing apart, i fitted the new top end. the fitting was straightforward, and after reassembly
a check looked ok. sticks move and it responds as it should, buttons work etc.

Thinking job done, packs it all away. skip forward a few weeks and im away with work, 360 in tow. Firing the thing up I find that that when I shoot, it fires then immediately pauses the game. ive had the thing apart again and everything looks fine, ie no
obvious loose connections or wires etc. I have a couple of wireless controllers so its not a big issue but id like to know why if anyone has any ideas. Obviously theres a mismatch in the wiring but as its a pre wired push in socket for the controller i cant
see why it doesnt work properly. Im not going to buy another cable as I cant guarantee the same wont happen again.

Anyone got any pinouts that I could use to rewire the plug inside the controller?

well it was working OK, even with the intermittent drop outs. Ive checked the wiring connection and the plug and theyre in the right order from numerous online vids - its difficult to mis connect a 4 pin socket to a 4 pin plug. I suppose I could have
a dodgy cable, but heyho. i'll try to circuit test the pins in the USB plug hence the req for the pinouts and if theyre OK seeing as helping is seemingly verboten i'll just chuck it away, which is what everyone does now..

It sounds like there might be an issue between the pcb and the wiring. I'd just buy a new controller.
