Wired connection of xbox series X is slower than my wifi! This issue started last night out...

Wi-fi is much slower than a hard wired connection.

You should always use a cable when possible

Xbox One supports up to Wifi N routers

Xbox Series support up to wireless A/C routers

Internet speed is affected depending on how many devices are connected on that network at the same time, the 10 megabytes of your connection are distributed to all devices, and connections become slower. It is recommended to use a wire to connect the console,
since it is faster than WiFi. Also sometimes game downloads are faster other times slower although the console is connected by wire.

I have one Xbox (Series X) wired via Ethernet. I can play on WiFi with no disconnects but I prefer a wired connection for gaming.

Hi, I appreciate the assistance but sadly it hasn't helped at all. If anything its worse than before. I've done all of the tasks you listed above. I'm seeing online that this is actually a very common issue dating back to the launch of the console and given that the Series X has been out for almost half a year its outrageous that this hasn't been fixed. I am seeing that some people have found a way around this by switching to a Wired network connection or paid for a Powerline Adapter but switching to Wired isn't an option for me and there is no way I'm paying more money to play an Xbox that has far better hardware than my old Xbox one. The Series X should be more than capable of handling WIFI connections. Microsoft this needs to be fixed URGENTLY.

After reading others people’s posts who are having the same issue, it seems this may be a wired networking issue. I unplugged the Ethernet and connected via wifi and it works fine. The wired connection issue with the series X is widespread and Microsoft needs to address this.
