windows live not working for backward compatible games cant log in

Please, try changing the Port Selection on the connection settings, from automatic to manual.

Go to Profile and System > Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings> Alternate Port Selection > Manual > Choose any from the Menu starting with a 4 or 5 (Example: 49215 or 57165).

It's not gears 3, (for as far as i know gears 3 is not backwards compatible)

I can't download any backwards compatible game.

Is there another way then to log in on a xbox 360 console? like if i buy a physical disc of a backwards compatible game, would it work then? and would i be able to download 360 games after that.

My region is Russia, but it still not working. I just cant get any Backward Compatibility games.

The console needs to log in to Xbox Live service to check that the game is backward compatible. Apart from that, the game does not need Xbox Live gold to play.

External cd drives will not work on the xbox one s. If your son bought any digital copies of the games under a gamertag then if they are backwards compatible he can log into his gamertag and download them by following the steps in this link https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/backward-compatibility/find-backward-compatible-xbox-game
