Windows games installing on old drive

We understand that you are having problem installing games to a new SSD drive. AS per description, Xbox apps don't allow it to install the games to the new SSD drive, even if you have configured the windows.

Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern. However, before we proceed, we would like to ask few questions about it.

1. What is the current version and edition of Windows Installed? (Search for WINVER in Windows search to see this)
   
2. Was the new SSD drive properly installed or formatted?
   
3. Have you updated Xbox apps, Microsoft Store, drivers and windows?
   

These above questions would help us provide the necessary information. Once we have gathered all the information, we will formulate the viable solution to help you with your case.

For the meantime, let us try to fix it by following the steps below.

• Change the drive Xbox downloads games to.
  

1. Press Windows + S to launch the Search menu, enter Xbox in the text field at the top, and click on the relevant search result to launch the app.
   
2. Click on the Profile icon near the top-right and select Settings from the flyout menu.
   
3. Go to the General tab.
   
4. Click on the dropdown menu under Change where this app installs by default.
   
5. Select the desired drive from the list of options.
   
6. Restart the computer and check if the drive you were facing issues with earlier can be used for installing apps.

The xbox app is the only way to install gamepass games also i have no idea what you're trying to say

Oh yeah no i have i reinstalled the xbox app a couple times it didnt change anything i formatted the drive and it still thinks that the D drive is the F drive its something to do with how Microsoft installs the games to the drives its like the old one is locked to it unless i disable that drive then it all works fine

It won't work on the xbox app, just installing the game on the new drive. and resetting the destination on the new drive.
