Windows dropping frame rate on desktop then monitors losing signal

Hi, I have been recently experiencing a sudden drop in frame rate while on desktop and later my 2 monitors would both lose signal together. If I let it sit there for abit, my GPU's fans would ramp up to 100% before I had to reboot and everything would be ok.

Saw in event viewer that the reboot counted as a bug check with the following code:
    0x00000133 (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000001e00, 0xfffff80517cfb320, 0x0000000000000000

Included is also the Memory dmp file

Windows dropping frame rate on desktop then monitors losing signal

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

    I'm glad to help you.

Your dump file sharing link has expired, if it is convenient, please re-upload it again and send it in the reply,so that I can further analyze the problem for you.

In the meantime, you can try removing a monitor to see if the problem disappears under a single monitor.

Looking forward to your more information.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards

    1440 @120hz or 4K HDR @60hz

when i turn on freesync it automaticlly drops the hz down to 60, now way to have freesync on and 120hz
If FreeSync "drops" to 60, this means that the game is only able to render in 60 fps. The publisher probably frame locked the game to run at 60Hz, and not more.

FreeSync doesn't make frame rates go higher. FreeSync means, that the monitor refreshes the screen at the same fps/Hz rate as the game is rendering a full screen image.

If a game runs at 60 or 30 or less frames per second, the monitor adjusts to that frame rate. And if the game has enough resources and is not frame limited to render frames faster than 60Hz, the monitor will also follow that refresh rate and refresh the
screen display at the same rate as the game is sending a screen image.

Not all games are frame unlocked, and therefore not all games run at 120Hz, and so if you turn on FreeSync, and the monitor "drops" to a certain fps/Hz refresh rate, it's because the game won't send frames faster than that.

Playing Gears 3 Now, ask questions!

3d is crap, you lose too much resolution and the frame rate drops. 2d is amazing.

I some times get screen tearing on my Xbox seris s does this mean my console need to fix or is it normal ? My monitor is 1080 60hz no vrr

Screen tearing on a TV (or monitor) that does not support VRR is totally normal. The tearing occurs because when the frame rate drops below 60 many console games are designed to disable vertical synchronisation (V-Sync). This helps prevent controller latency, but has the unsightly side affect of screen tearing.

VRR stands for 'Variable Refresh Rate'. Put simply, with VRR enabled, when a game's performance drops, the TV or monitor's refresh rate changes to match the games frame rate. This prevents screen tearing.

    Bad news about Watch Dogs...

    How am I lying?

My monitor refreshes 60 times per second.

I can lock frame rate to 30 frames per second via command console.

I can lock frame rate to 60 frames per second via command console.

I can see the difference between the game running at 30 fps and 60 fps.

You think my system is suffering from rate drops.

The frame rate tracker says my game is running at constant 30 fps when I lock it to 30.

The frame rate tracker says my game is running at constant 60 fps when I lock it to 60.

The frame rate tracker says my game is running at constant 299 fps when I don't lock the frame rate (it is unlocked by default).

The frame rate tracker disagrees with your hypothesis that my system is suffering from frame rate drops.

    Where is the lie?
