Windows 8 and XB1 family safety

Having spent some time setting up my Windows 8 PC's with Microsoft Family Safety so that my kids only access appropriate content within permitted times I'm struggling to find out how to do the same on our XBOX ONE.

Do kids have to have a Microsoft account to be able to join the XB1 family? In Windows 8 they do not.

It would make sense to me that Microsoft Family Safety covered both products.

You need to make a new account on Windows 8 completely by going to Control Panel > User Accounts & Family Safety > User Accounts

You sadly can't just sign out.

 

Changing Parent Account from Aunt's email to Mother's email for a childs account

I actually just did this with my daughters account... go to this website: Account.Live.Com and sign in with the parent account currently tied to the child account.

Once your signed in, On the left, click RELATED ACCOUNTS (It may try sending you a code to verify the account, choose the best option, retrieve the code and continue)

Next, Click MANAGE PERMISSIONS

Click VISIT THE FAMILY SAFETY WEBSITE

Now at the very top in the blue, its going to say add parent. There you can add another email address (which they will need to confirm with a code)
