I doubt Game Pass via Steam would make much difference. You'd still need the Xbox App to install most games or at least launch your games. I recently purchased Mass Effect Legendary on Steam, but it still needs the EA App to launch the game. Same as the Ubisoft games I bought need the Ubisoft Connect app still. Can't see this changing for Xbox Game Pass titles.

As above, since Steam would still need the Xbox App, there is little hope of running Game Pass games on a device like a Steam Deck as the Xbox App is preoperatory to Windows and can't be run on Linux. You'd still need Windows 11 on the Deck.

Just being linked in to Steam wouldn't make any different to the amount of games available. It's up to the individual Publishers and their deals with Microsoft as to what games are actually available.

Same problem, I can't install new games, the problem is in the latest update of the Gaming Service (3.63.31001.0) by removing it the games can be reinstalled on any drive, but it will reinstall and block downloads again.



Is there a way to install previous versions of the Gaming Service that had no problems, because it was updated on the Windows 11 Desktop and the Windows 10 portal that recently had no problem.



Unusual that Microsoft lets pass updates that directly destroy the Xbox app and even damage the system.

The above issue occurred on a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.

I was able to "fix" the issue by unenrolling from Xbox Insider Hub's Windows Gaming. I then uninstalled the Xbox app. I restarted my machine. I then re-enrolled back in the Windows Gaming Preview. I reinstalled the Xbox App. I still had the same error, so I unchecked the option to "Ask me for install options on every install." Game Pass Games now install as normal rather than the advanced options under C:\Xbox Games.

Identifying the issue was seeing the option "This game supports advanced management features." on the 7 games that were already installed.

I believe this is some sort of Xbox Insider Hub Preview issue with the Xbox App because the 7 games were installed without the option of C:\Xbox Games that I had prior to reloading Windows 11.
