Windows 11 Xbox App Error Code 0x80070002

Hi,

I'm trying to download "ANYTHING" using the Xbox app on Windows 11 22H2 but nothing I try to download will actually download. The game attempts to download by showing up in the downloader in the app but it is stuck at 0% and eventually says Error 0% (see error details) and when I click on this it says to try again later.

I have tried the following games:

MS Flight Sim

Age of Empires Definitive Edition

Expeditions Rome

and more - you get the idea - nothing downloads.

I have followed so many different videos and support reports but still nothing works. The things I have tried is:

Uninstall / Reinstall the Xbox App

Uninstall / Reinstall Gaming Services

If I install games from EA it works and shows up in the Xbox app so the problem is sitting with the Xbox app. I have an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

I have no idea why this is failing and no idea how to fix this.

I was able to following the instructions in this thread and it seemed to now allow me to install through the MS Store, but same error exists installing through Xbox app.

Hi Kimmy,

Sorry for the delay - work and all!!

So I have looked at updates and everything is up to date. This is a brand new install of Windows 11 already so I have the latest installed using the Media Tool.

I also ran the powershell command then restarted the PC but it still has the same error.

This is beyond ridiculous to get this fixed - surely others are having the same issue?

On to your response.

I have logged out and back into both the MS Store and Xbox app using the same email address and I still receive the same error code. I had previously done this as I found a video saying to try this as a potential fix but it didn't work for me unfortunately.

Hi Mike-Brown,

Thanks for the information. When I try your solution I get another error message when trying to create the subfolder under WpSystem!! This time I get:

0x80070539: The security ID structure is invalid

Got me beat this one!! I just wanted to install a game!!

Thanks anyway mate - I guess I'm better off cancelling my Xbox Ultimate as it is just wasting money now.

Hi tr1pod,

I have moved my user folder to D drive so maybe this is an issue. Nothing else has worked so far.

How do you change the install folder?
