    Windows 10 Xbox App loads black screen, then closes


    Hi,

    I recently tried to install the Xbox app on a Windows 10 desktop PC. I had issues and error codes trying to get it to install. Finally it installed. Try to run it and loads the black screen with xbox logo, then closes.

    I've tried following the troublshooting suggestions in these threads:

    Thank you so much for your reply and for trying the troubleshooting steps I provided above!

    It seems like we are doing progress on this one. Error 0x80310000 is a BitLocker Drive Encryption error that occurs when the drive is locked. To fix this error, you need to turn off your device encryption if you have it turned on. After deactivating device encryption, make sure you reboot your device. You can also open a command line using this way: right click c:windowssystem32cmd.exe and select "run as administrator". Then, launch manage-bde -status c:.

    The only drives that have bitlocker encryption are external drives I periodically plug in to backup.

    I unplugged the external HDD I had plugged in that uses bitlocker.
    Logged onto XboxAppTest profile.
    error code gone. presented with popup:
    "Gaming Services Required"
    "Install Gaming Services"
    downloaded services. Get UAC prompt to enter adminstrator acc password. Enter password.
    "There has been an error, see details".
    details:
    "Something Unexpected Happened"
    "Code: 0x80073D25"
    Go back to main adminstrator account, fully sign out.
    sign back into XboxAppText acc.
    Gaming Services installs fine.
    "Launching the Xbox App"
    "Updating 100%"
    Pulsating Xbox logo and black screen.
    No change after 5 minutes.
    Close program, restart.
    launches to Black screen with static Xbox logo, and then closes.
    Reboot PC. Log into XboxAppTest profile, Try to start Xbox app, launches to black screen with static logo, then closes.

    1. Next to Add other user, select Add account.
    2. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    3. Enter a user name, password, or password hint—or choose security questions—and then select Next.
    If the steps I provided above doesn't work, try running the app troubleshooter. To do this, go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.
