    I'm trying to fix a customers PC who wants to use Xbox Game Bar to record guides to new workers.

    For some reason they were missing Xbox Game Bar entirely, we installed Xbox Game Bar from the Microsoft store, and it "works" but the icon for recording is greyed out.

    The Bar looks like this:

    For some reason the PC is missing Gaming options from the Options menu entirely.

    The Settings for Game Bar are visible ,if I search for Xbox Game Bar settings using the windows search.

    When I click this icon it only opens the settings page (the same as Win+I).

    While troubleshooting the issue I ran into many fixes, but none worked.

    Here is a list of the things I have tried:

    Checked all updates (Windows / drivers)

    Installed Xbox Game Bar from the Microsoft store.

    Made these registry additions:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\GameBar

    I added AllowAutoGameMode = 1

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR
    I added AppCaptureEnabled = 1

    I rebooted the device after the changes and nothing changed

    I downloaded the Windows Media Pack for Windows 10

    It installed just as intended, but had no effect

    I went into local policy editor and went to
    Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting
    For some reason Windows Game Recording/Broadcasting was turned off, I turned it on.

    Rebooted.

    Still no effect.

    The user has the latest version of Windows 10 Pro

    Would updating to Win11 help?

    Hi,

    Unfortunately this wasn't an option as it would remove all of their applications.

    We decided to abandon the Xbox Game Bar and just use OBS

    I would suggest doing a reset on your PC and see if this helps.
