Windows 10 Minecraft in VR no longer launches

Hey guys,

I had Minecraft running in my Oculus Rift a while ago, well before Christmas, but recently I went back to take another look at it with the new Ray Tracing support coming soon (hopefully). Whenever I launch it now, it comes up in my Rift and says 'Checking
for updates' before the program closes back to desktop.

Minecraft is working fine in desktop mode.

No, the game was purchased from the Windows Store, the Oculus part is just a launcher

If you purchased the game through the Oculus store, then you would be receiving updates through their pushes. It might be your best option to contact Oculus.

Apologies for the delayed response as I was looking for solutions to your issue with Minecraft for Windows 10. The reason you are getting the trial mode of Minecraft when launching the game could be due to the Microsoft account email you are using. Please confirm that you are using the correct email when signing into the Windows 10 store and launching Minecraft? Customers who purchased the Oculus version were given an option to move to the Windows 10 version as the Minecraft VR has been retired from the Oculus store. Here is how to sign in/out of the Windows 10 store.

How to switch accounts on Windows 10 store

1) Open Windows store

2) Click on the profile icon in the upper-right corner of the app

3) click on the profile again and choose to sign-out, if the email is incorrect

I would uninstall Minecraft windows 10, and if you still have the Oculus one installed, I would remove it. This issue is usually related to logging into Minecraft with the wrong email account.

How to Leave the Beta

On Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC, sign in with the account that registered for the Minecraft Beta and launch the Xbox Insider Hub.
Navigate to Insider content > Minecraft (or Minecraft for Windows 10 on PC)
Select Manage.
Use the radio button to select Unenroll (Leave this preview), then select Done.
Wait an additional 30-60 minutes after unenrollment completes (Pending no longer appears in the Xbox Insider Hub).
Uninstall and reinstall Minecraft.

There is no oculus version of Minecraft, only the windows 10 version which you can connect your computer to your oculus to play in VR

You need to contact Oculus support for help with their devices
