Windows 10 Game Install Failed -

Hi,

When trying to install a game on my Windows 10 PC from either the Windows Store or Xbox Beta App I am getting the install error below.

Something unexpected happened

Code: 0x803F8001

I have tried resetting software distribution folder, registering the windows store app. I have full administrator control over the PC and not too sure what is causing this. It clicking install it goes to acquiring license then a split second later it shows
the error.

Any suggestions on what to try would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, unfortunately I have already tried all the steps which haven't resolved the issue.

I had this problem a couple of times in the past. Here is what worked for me:

In the Search box, type CMD

Right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator

In the command prompt, enter the following command:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

Thanks for the response. I have already tried this, it was one of the powershell scripts MS sent me accross. I have just tested again to double check but still getting the same error.

I'm sorry you didn't solve your problem.

Have you check that your Windows time, language and region are correct? If time and location are not correct may cause this error

Do you have antivirus or firewall? Try to disable temporaly.

You may try to repair damaged system files on your computer. Executing SFC and DSIM commands can help you do it

Hi Sprunt!

Seems a Windows Store error.

Can you try one of this methods?

Method 1

Clear the cache of the Windows Store:

Press the Windows + R keys.
Type wsreset.exe in the Run command and then click OK.

It will take a few seconds, wait for the windows store to open

Method 2

If the previous method did not work, try:

Go to Windows Settings --> Applications
Search Store (or the conflicting application), click on it
Choose Advanced Options and from the new window click on Reset.

If the previous methods didn't work, try using a cleaning tool, for example CCleaner.
