Win 10 Game DVR Long clips will not record properly

I am finding that any clip over 15 mins the recording will not record properly. When I record clips that are over 15 mins the clip gets shortened considerably. The clips always show as less than 1 min. For example, I recorded a clip that was over 20
mins long. When I went to review the file it said the file was 43 seconds long. Any clips under 15 mins record properly. i lowered the quality of the video and audio with no change

Any way to fix the programs or files?

    :)

I have problems with even shorter clips. But It is saved most of time aproximately 1 minute clip. Sometimes only 15 second or 2 minutes.

I only really discovered this facility at the weekend for steam / record via the laptop and was having success with this. I went to try it again tonight but seem to be having the issue where doesn't matter how long I record for the clip only ends up being
    40 seconds long.

I've cleared the captures folder of previous recordings - as far as the app is concerned, there's nothing there.

Following the troubleshooting doesn't appear to have helped either?

Hi Old, Just found out, depending on how your recording, if you use quick keys this can limit your recording time. If you snap the GameDVR your are able make recordings of a specific length. You can find more information regarding this located here:

    support.xbox.com/.../upload-game-dvr

Let me know if this helps,

Win 10 Game DVR Long clips will not record properly

Bestlano - thanks for the reply.

I can understand that from recording on the xbox one console and Game-DVR.

My recording has been from Streaming on the XBOX windows 10 App connected to the console. The time of recording on the laptop is set at maximum 2 hours.

I had previously made and recorded clips approx 15 minutes long. On streaming and recording it would appear the clip I'm making is of a certain length but when I click to end the recording instead of it being 'x' minutes long it says 40 odd seconds.

I have even cleared the folder where the clips are stored so as far as the App is concerned there is nothing stored to take up space. Not had it on tonight yet but away to have a quick go and see if it works.

Hi Old, Thanks for clarification. If your using the Xbox App (Beta) can you report this by using the "Report a problem". Provide the details you indicated so there is no confusion from recording on Xbox One console and Game-DVR. In the mean time I will report
your info to the developers to investigate.

    Thanks for the information,

Thanks for the replies. Sorry if I'm just being slow but where is the "Report a problem" I've followed a few links where I'm apparently going to be talking about the App issue however everytime it ends up being the console dvr that is discussed.

Just cant fathom out how something that was working fine is no longer working?

You need to be running the Xbox App (Beta), you can DL the app located here:
    www.microsoft.com/.../9NBLGGH1J27H
. In the left NAV within the app you will see a happy face. Click "Report a problem" and provide the info and hit send and your set.

    Thanks,

Win 10 Game DVR Long clips will not record properly

    Hey guys,

The problem may be that you are not recording but actually doing a quick record and not actually noticing.

Hi Old, I sent you a PM with a screenshot. The report a problem feature is only available with Xbox App (Beta).

    Thanks,

  15. First, I would like to let everyone know that I know that I'm a few months late for this thread, but I had the same problem most of you were having. After a 9 hour session of me sitting down staring at my computer and Xbox One unsure of what the problem
was, I think I found something that may be a solution to the problem. At least a lead to the right direction, if anyone still cares.

Okay so while I was recording several clips, I had this problem where they all ended at 40 or so seconds for me, even though my settings specified otherwise. I was getting frustrated and trying to think of possible solutions to this problem, including searching
the internet to see if anyone else had similar problems. I seemed to be the only one until I found this forum. I grew no results and went back to frustratingly trying to figure out the problem. That's when I noticed something. The clips where I was moving
my mouse through the video ended up being longer than the ones where I kept it idle. In fact, the videos were specific length too. And so I did a test where one video I didn't touch my mouse and another where I moved my mouse the whole time. The result were
    as followed.

The first video: Ended up being 42 seconds long and cutting off.

The second video: Expanded all the way up to the point where I stop recording manually.

I know it's not exactly a solution but it's a step forward to the solution. It must be some thing in the recorded software that causes it to quit recording when a computer is idle. Maybe to save a computer from maxing out memory? I don't know. But I know
this. Try going into your computer settings and setting the mouse to where it doesn't hide after a few seconds of being idle. See if that grows results.

Hope this helped or informed someone! Win 10 Game DVR Long clips will not record properly :)
