  1. Will Xbox series x/s have more monitors that run 1440p @ 120hz than current gen consoles?

I'm preparing to buy a monitor for next gen but recently discovered that the xbox one x isn't compatible with alot of monitors at 1440p @ 120hz. Its either 1080p 120hz or 1440p 60hz. This has me worried that the series s/x will have the same issue and has
limited me down to a single monitor that i know from what I've read can run 1440p @ 120hz on current gen.

I don't know how this site works but I'm hoping an employee of Microsoft can answer so i know what monitor will utilize 1440p @ 120hz on the series x/s and which if any wont. The selection is very limited if it will be the same as the one x and would be
really disappointing to many when they find out there 1440p 120hz machine isn't fully compatible with their monitor & most others. I can't imagine after all the complaints Microsoft wont fix this issue for their NEW boxes that specifically target 1440p @ 120hz,
especially when manufactures aren't providing the firmware updates xbox sais they need, meanwhile manufactures say the same back and considering this is a new console there should be no reason why Xbox doesn't provide a solution.

Either way i will probably play it safe regardless but this kinda sucks as the monitor I'm looking at has higher response time & no hdr support compared to the last monitor i was set on before discovering this issue. Any help or clarification on why exactly
this is an issue and if it will persist into next gen will be appreciated, thanks.

    :)

    HDMI Xbox Series S/X

    Hi,

There is more than enough bandwidth for 1440P @120Hz with HDR on an HDMI 2.0 Monitor. On the current consoles Microsoft decided to lock HDR to 4K displays, but with the Series S that won't be an issue anymore.

HDMI standards are backwards compatible, so you won't need an HDMI 2.1 compliant Monitor to use Series X or S on an older monitor or TV that only has HDMI 2.0.

Xbox One X and S can be very fussy when it comes to full monitor support. But if you bought a monitor that fully supports the Xbox One X then it should support the same features on a Series X/S.

My advice would be to check reviews of monitors actually running on the current consoles with 120Hz support. There are loads of videos on YouTube. Just looking at the specs on a website may not be enough.

    Xbox Series X. 1440p lies.

Without display 1.4 support there is no reason to target 1440p at 120hz. Only screens are able to do this have 4k 120hz with HDMI2.1.
    Hi,

Sorry you feel this way, but that is not true. There are compatibility issues with monitors and the Series X/S sure, but there are some monitors that can do 1440P 120Hz via HDMI 2.0 without issues.

    The Five listed here
    from Rtings.com can all support 120Hz @ 1440P over HDMI 2.0.

I have also seen on here that the Samsung G7 can also do 1440P @120Hz effortlessly.

Just because your monitor doesn't work doesn't Microsoft were lying.

Also there is a lot more to the Series X than just a fast SSD. It has a GPU at least twice as fast as the Xbox One X and a CPU 3x faster. The Series X also has Raytracing.

Will Xbox series x/s have more monitors that run 1440p @ 120hz than current gen consoles?

Hi ! Do you know if Xbox series X will support and run in 1440p/120hz with a MSI Optix MAG27CQ ?

    Thanks for your help :)
It should do, going by the online manual.

However, the Xbox One X and S can be seriously fussy when it comes to displays and this may also be the case with Series X.

Monitors that work on Xbox One X with all features should work on Series X too.

I would advise doing some research first rather than blindly buying one. YouTube is a good place to check. Make sure you actually see the console running at 1440P @ 120Hz on Xbox.

Does the series x support 1440p 144/155 refresh rate?

The Xbox Series X will do 120Hz but no more, regardless of resolution or monitor.

I would check to see if other Xbox Series X owners have confirmed to achieve 1440p120Hz on those monitors before purchasing.

Maybe a google of "xbox series x 1440p 120hz ___________ " and insert the monitor model to see if people have posted about their monitor and Series X working.

Will Xbox series x/s have more monitors that run 1440p @ 120hz than current gen consoles?

That doesnt answer the question is it going to work for older monitors that are hdmi 2.0 that didn't run at the 1440p 120hz they were supposed to run at on xbox one x i bought a viotek monitor gft27db was supposed to run 1440p 120hz over the hdmi 2.0 but
it doesn't on the one x only runs at 1080p 120hz with freesync on or 1440p 60hz no freesync will series x solve this issue thats what he wants to know i have heard it was a bandwidth issue but with the new console having higher bandwidth i would guess it would
solve the issue but would like to know for sure
