Will Xbox provide a fix for HDMI 2.0 144hz monitor to support 1440p 120hz/VRR OS Display...

Hi I know these questions have been constantly being asked within the community questions.

    I have currently a 144hz 1440P monitor that supports:

    HDMI 2.0: 50 ~ 144 Hz

    HDMI 1.4: 50 ~ 75 Hz

    DisplayPort 1.2: 50 ~ 144 H

    Product Specs:

    https://downloads.monoprice.com/files/manuals/38576_Manual_190408.pdf

Currently the xbox is not supporting the monitors to set it at 1440p 120hz or 1440p 120hz VRR modes within the display settings.

Which I have confirmed via Windows 10 that these resolutions can be set with no problem towards the monitor.

Is this something being looked at to have a solution or fix to have the monitors set at these resolution settings? This is some concern to some of the community being said the new Xbox Series X will be out later this year and something like this will occur
for people who have Monitors already that support these resolutions which can be a make it or break it for us.

    :)

Does the LG UltraGear 24GN60T-B work with the Xbox Series X/S for 120hz/fps at 1440/1080p?'

It looks like the 24GN60T-B has been superseded by the 24GN600-B. I'm assuming that is the case as there is no price for the 24GN60T-B on LG's own website. By the way, neither of these displays are 1440P (2560x1440), they're both 1080P (1920x1080).

As for 120Hz support, yes that seems to be the case for this display. Based on my own experience with monitors from LG I can't see why 24GN60T-B wouldn't also easily support 120Hz. Toi get the best out these displays you need to have VRR enabled.

I wouldn't go with the older LG 1440P HDMI 2.0 monitors as many of these don't support 120Hz over HDMI. The rated 144Hz refresh is for PCs over display port.

So can I use it for Xbox to get 120hz and will it appear in the settings?

1440p@120Hz WITH HDR on Xbox Series X ?

    Hi,

What ngocphi has said is somewhat true but not entirely. I'm sure they mean well but I little more explanation is required.

The Asus VG32VQ can do 120Hz at 1440P, however, the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) FreeSync on this display tops out at 85Hz over HDMI. So for Xbox, 1440P 120Hz and VRR is a no go. You should be able to get to 120Hz with VRR at 1080P though.

The inability to do 1440P @ 120Hz is a limitation of your display's hardware, nothing to do with the older HDMI 2.0 port.

Most of these monitors rated refresh is based on their Display Port hardware.

    cant get 120hz

I believe that you need to have a monitor that is Freesync and Freesync has to be supported over HDMI, as well as, the monitor needs to have HDMI 2.0 ports and supports 120/144hz, looking at that, and being G-sync, it seems to have HDMI 1.4 ports which limits
    it to 1440p at 60hz

A new monitor is needed if you want 1440p at 120hz,

Pulled this info from a website...

"Nowadays, most of the monitors, TVs, and graphics cards feature at least an HDMI 1.4 port which is enough for 144Hz at 1080p, 75Hz at 1440p, and 30Hz at 4K.

However, keep in mind that some monitors have limited bandwidth over HDMI 1.4 making it max out at 120Hz or even at 60Hz in some cases (mostly G-SYNC and older monitors).

In fact, most 144Hz monitors are limited to 120Hz over HDMI 1.4, but some monitor manufacturers will use custom timing parameters, pixel rates, etc to use the full potential of the HDMI 1.4 bandwidth thus getting 144Hz at 1080p.

So, make sure that the exact monitor you’re looking at supports 144Hz or at least 120Hz over its HDMI 1.4 port – or just look for a 144Hz display with HDMI 2.0.

HDMI 2.0 is also fairly standard and can be used for 240Hz at 1080p, 144Hz at 1440p, and 60Hz at 4K. The latest HDMI 2.1 adds native support for 120Hz at 4K UHD
    and 60Hz at 8K."
