    Will they shut down the Xbox 360 servers?


    Hey,

    As a guy who enjoys playing call of duty multiplayer and GTA V online, I was interested when I heard a rumour they were going to shut down the 360 servers in early 2016. Does anyone know if this is true?

    if 360 servers get shut down then would't the xbox one servers be shut down? arent they the same live service?!

    Yes but what I mean is if the sales of XSTB are so poor (which is more than likely) then they may encourage the shut down to get us to buy the new one.

    To be fair I don't think they will shut down the servers for a while. They have just brought out backwards compatibility which many of the games use the Xbox 360 servers. It would be a pointless gesture to give us in one hand and take half of it away with
    the other.

    Also, you have to remember the release of the 360E console, plus developers are still releasing new games for the 360.

    Bungie promised support for Destiny for a least eight years if my memory serves me correctly.

    Unlikely to happen anytime soon. Only just had backwards compatibility released, lol.

    They'll shut down games with staggered effect if they feel the need to.

    the 360 servers aren't shutting down, but select games on the 360 are shutting their own servers.
