    No one can answer that as they haven't announced when they are removing the need for gold to play the free to play games yet.

    If i had to guess then i would think that feature would be in place by the time Infinite releases but like i said,that's just a guess.

    Currently Gold is required to play online in all games. They are working on removing that requirement from free-to-play games.

    It won't be completely free anytime soon, but they are working on removing the Gold requirement for free-to-play games.

    Some of the Games recieved from "Games for Gold" no longer allow me to play them.

    360 Games with Gold games can be played without an active Gold subscription. Xbox One games required a Gold subscription to continue playing them for free.

    Currently, you still need Gold to play all games online. They are working to remove the requirement from free to play games, but you do need Gold to play Apex at this time.

    Because Gold is required to play online. They are working on removing that requirement from free-to-play games like Fortnite, but that hasn't started yet.
