Will opening my Elite controller 2 to clean the RB button with some alcohol void warranty?

Hello KyleB420, yes, if you order the warranty through the Microsoft website you may receive a normal controller instead of the special edition.
If you want to activate the controller's warranty, the ideal is to contact Xbox support to see if they can send you a controller like the one you have.

As for cleaning, this may affect the warranty.

Unfortunately the new Elite Series Controllers are known for having JoyStick drift after normal wear and tear. I can say there are some YouTube videos and blogs you can search for that may offer some type of solutions by either cleaning or replacing certain
components of the controller. Just note, you will completely void any warranty if you open up an Xbox controller. But if the warranty is already void, it may be a good option. I've heard a lot of people for this very reason are buying the controller with a
extended 2 year warranty so they can get them replaced when they go bad.

Try some air in a can found at target or office max. If that doesn't work the only other options i believe if you cant send the controller back would be to open it up and clean the bottom of the buttons with a little isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 91%
pure would be best.. It should say that on the bottle. This is whats used for also cleaning PC electronic components.

Try to clean top shell of controller where buttons stick through. Then under them all.

Then clean the top of the buttons on the electronic board on the bottom half where the buttons smash down on with a qtip and rubbing alcohol.

I have had a similar thing with my Xbox one sea of thieves controller but I use a turtle beach adapter now so it's not a problem. I have however got a stick drift in my elite controller... xbox says they will do a free repair ..brilliant problem is I opened
my controller to clean the bumpers before they offered this....is my warranty void?

I spilled a drink right next to my xb1 controller a few days ago, and apparently some of it got inside, and now my triggers and B button stick badly. This makes it pretty difficult to play certain games as the game thinks I'm holding the button(s) down for
a few seconds.

I've watched a bunch of videos on the subject and most are telling me to take the controller apart (voids the warranty) and clean it that way. There were a few saying to use rubbing alcohol and/or spray some WD40 where it's sticking. I'd rather not use something
that possibly makes more of a problem, but at the same time I'm not sure taking apart the entire controller is worth it either (I don't have a lot of experience doing that).

So any tips would be helpful.
