so i had been planning on changing my gamertag when I could scrape the extra money together for it because of the already short 16 character limit I had a hard time coming up with something I wanted but now that the new update dropped the name I had come
up with is 1 character too long and it is still shorter than the version I would like to use so now when I felt really limited I feel even more limited. they say it works like discord but discord doesn't limit 12 characters

I had a friend who just set up a new gold account yesterday. His gamertag was limited to 12 characters.

it's possible that a lot of people don't use such long names and that's why they'll limit the names to 15 characters

This is simply ignorance. Many players are impacted by this limitation on their creativity.
